Preview: RCB vs GT
After two wins on the road, the Royal Challengers return home to Bengaluru. Their home fans can’t wait for the tie to get started as RCB take on GT at the Chinnaswamy stadium. The Challengers are sitting atop the points table with a sizeable net run rate. To continue the good form they have shown and make the best of this momentum will see their confidence rise on. Gujurat Titans on the other hand are placed fourth in the table. Led by Shubhman Gill, the Titans have won and lost one game each. Following are the key battles to look forward to in this game:
Key battles:
1. Virat Kohli vs Mohammed Siraj: Despite all the love between this duo, the DSP will have bowl against the King. After 7 years at RCB, Siraj was released before the mega-auction. Picked by GT, the pacer has done well, dismissing both Mumbai openers in the previous game. Kohli vs Rabada too is another spicy battle to watch out for. Update: Rabada is not available for this game due to injury.
2. Phil Salt vs Prasidh Krishna: The destructive RCB opener will go up against the wily pacer from Karnataka. Prasidh who is very familiar with the conditions of the Chinnaswamy brings a natural advantage against the home side. Salt’s fiery starts have played a major role in 2 wins. The winner of this matchup will have a significant impact on the final result of this game.
3. Rajat Patidar vs Rashid Khan: The spin-destroyer has had a great start as new captain of RCB. Leading with tact, calm and finesse, he has not lead captaincy come in the way of his batting. He demonstrated he can handle multiple roles with ease. He will be key to handle one of the best leg-spinners in the game, Rashid Khan.
4. Sai Sudarshan vs Josh Hazlewood: Sudarshan has back-to-back fifties for the Titans in their first two matches. He will be key to lay the foundation for their batting. With Shubman Gill yet to find his groove in the IPL, Sudarshan’s wicket is all the more important to both the teams. Hazlewood has shown magic in both games, with 31 dot balls of his 48 balls bowled and 5 wickets taken. Once again, the winner of this matchup will create an impact early in the innings.
